AVRE Race for Sight- Windsor, NY

The much anticipated Race for sight was held on Saturday, September 21st, it was originally scheduled for July, but our crazy weather in upstate New York postponed the event! Luckily, Saturday turned out to be a perfect temperature with sunshine! We only had to deal with a stiff headwind on the return portion of the course, this made for a tough race for those of us who were not able to stay with the lead group and we ended up time trialing alone into this wind, but it was a great workout and excellent training.

TVC , Ruud, Chenango Point and Mission in Motion represented!
There are two races to choose from, a 40 mile race for experienced licensed racers and a 26 mile citizens race. Delana, Stephanie, Jenn & I did the A race, I was able to stay with Delana & one other guy until halfaway back on the first loop but the hills and headwind were too much and I couldn't stick with the two of them. I continued along solo with out seeing anyone (except for the guy who was with Delana on the side of the road fixing his flat tire) still, no one in front or behind for the next 20 miles, then a few miles before the finish out of nowhere, the flat tire guy and Karla caught and passed me on the hard headwind portion, krud, there goes 3rd place, not sure what happened to my energy level, I had nothing left to keep up with them, I went from 5 minutes ahead to 5 minutes behind in just a couple miles.
I didn't see Stephanie until the bottom of the finish hill, and she did a great job climbing to the finish, while I crawled, thankful that the finish line wasn't at the top of the hill.

A Race women's results:
